Guitar Chord COnstructor Program

I already released the first version of my new guitar software. The program is for guitar players who have a basic knowledge in music theory particularly the chord construction. You can have a primer in the internet. Theres no more excuse for the ignorant to remain dumb, we have a lot of online resources from wikibooks to wikipedia.i like it.

It was created using visual basic6. It was just brushing up with my VB6 skills on the first day of the year 2007, in between salads i always interact with my son neobe. Amazingly i did not got into much trouble coz he alost always do what i need him to do. Veebie is more cooperative this time than before when i was with Ceplas in College.

There are a lot of good books behind books on sale in Gaisano. Books by becoming old does not degrade in strength may only be less up to date only rarely, because outside electronics world there isnt any significant revolution happening.well everyone is entitled to my opinion.During 1995, Year 2000 seem so far away that there is still so much time to realize all the fantasies we see in movies. We thought, in 2000 we see robots doing human work or replacement of people. But in 2007 i only see its realization in the electronics world.well im limited to my comprehensive knowledge in our semiconductor manufacturing. My point is its already 2007 and we are still very behind the star wars technology.Time is clicking very fast. From the view point of theory of relativity, moving clocks ticks slow from an observer in stationary FOF. That means we are stationary because we are the observers of our time passing very fast. Do you realize that we always break our promises? com’on who hasnt broken any new years resolution year after year? Why we observe time to be very fast passing us out of breath in cathing up? we never did our homework. Acts 20:24 That is our Life’s Assignment. May we do it now. we cannot be too heavenly to be of earthly use. wait, im talking about my guitar program. anyway i hope you get my point. Its difficult to describe something in ones heart to another who never has it in his heart. Now thats elegant.

Watch out for the next version of my guitar program. I posted it in the files section of the mas-iligan@yahoogroup. inform me if you like to beta test it.

Happy Sabbath day everyone. Time will be slow in Heaven, it will take time until forever to tick 1 second. I hope you know why. Jesus never broke and never will break any promise in His word. Review your time dilation theory.

ASEAN ANSYS Conference Singapore

Our group was invited to present a technical paper during the ASEAN ANSYS Users Conference in Singapore on November 2006 in Suntec City Singapore.

So i furnished a presentation and with my supervisor102_2564 I flew to singapore. I was scheduled to lecture the following day.We arrived in Suntec city with roof fashioned like a durian exterior.

102b2630 I listened to each speakers before me and how they were washed with test questions and then my time came to speak, I spoke for about 20 minutes and then i was only asked with 2 questions and they were relatively easy. I went back to my seat and realized that my companion did not took pictures becauseHe forgot to shoot, he was only listening at me the whole time. Ok.I got over it. On left is picture of all speakers, im the youngest of course (front row rightmost).

I was amazed to see there are a lot shopping places around. five towers connected to each other and it was a shopping mall. Underground you see malls, go up and you see malls. Malls all around. Train stations have malls, all stations i went to - malls. Hotel lounges and rooms have Bibles under the center table and religious literatures. cool. Food is expensive, taxi also. Double decker bus and nice highways. great place. Walk path have tiles. almost everywhere its concrete but you see trees in the road islands.

Matthew 8:11 "I am telling you however, many will come from the East and the West and will dine with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven;

I used to call it singaflor before. watch out its a fine city.theres a lot of no and donts. But i see people jay walking, young lovers throw garbage to the seas, more garbage at the the roof of waiting sheds. What you hear about a place usually makes up that place. Then i learned jay walking. No police stopped me and issued ticket not like in front of MSU-IIT. 102_2826 I still have not paid it though. There is uniformity in the taxi. all are toyota crown models. Uncle said in 2007 all taxis will be government set to hyundai.lots of religious reading in hotels, bookstores, building lounges. Not quite like what i heard. The Lion city is very nice. the sidewalk is concrete tiles, evergreen road islands - lots of big trees -cool. Sentosa is great. it means "peace". it was the peaceful haven of the japanese soldiers during the war. thats why its called sentosa or peace.when the place was discovered by sailors wrecked by storm, they saw a lion and they call it the lion city.Fro 102_2847 Mt Faber, aboard the cable car to the tower and above the seas with the busiest port down to the peaceful island where you can enjoy the dancing fountain, roads with glittering blue lights, underwaterworld, insect-kingdom and beatiful sceneries in ones front. If i can come here everyday or live here.or overnight camp with the pathfinders. If only i can come back here with my family to enjoy it together.i still miss home.im going home.i must go now its already 11pm and my flight back home is 9am. Thanks to suey for the company. I woke up 7:30am.did my quick breakfast and left 8am.12 hours after that, i was still there roaming around the changi airport claimed the best airport in the world.free internet, free xbox games, stores everywhere, free city tour and lots of miniature parks and lagoons inside the terminal.I MISSED MY FLIGHT! Sorry sir, its too late. but its still 8:30am and my flight is 9am. you have to be ready 2 hours before departure.check in early.whens the next flight? 9:45pm. Ma i missed my flight, i better float around. i will miss our dinner. Pls tell my invited friends and loved ones that i wont make it to our scheduled welcome back dinner…I missed the special dinner with my family.

I 102_3094 was too excited to see the beauty of spore that i forgot the time, that i woke up in the morning missing my flight. The shows of dancing fountain kept me busy that night. I was enjoying the night. I forgot i still have to prepare for my flight the next day. When i checked out, i left my watch inside the bathroom, i was not able to monitor the time.and im the one to blame…

Ive heard of a land thats wondrously fair, it tells of its beauty that is far beyond compare. in that place thats called heaven, oh how i longed to be. No garbage, no jaywalking, and no death, sickness or headache and toothache. With foothpaths made of pure gold and glittering foundations made of precios stones like jasper and more.Having the eternity to enjoy all things as it was really originally planned. How i make it sure to be ready when that time comes when Jesus will come again and recieve us to that place - peaceful, beautiful, clean, no word can describe exactly. Dont enjoy the things of the night, tempted by furtune and fame.we find the tarnish and time change the glitter to dust and clay. Spend your life looking to Jesus. seek everlasting rewards for all of our efforts and energies given to Christ our Lord. Well spend an abundance of blessing beyond what this earth can afford. Why look to the world when fulfillment is found in Christ, my Lord.

Make yourself ready now.Today is the day of salvation.Tomorrow Jesus may come or you may die.Dont want to wake up on the ressurection morning and miss the flight to heaven and miss our family dinner with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Dont be late. check yourself in now to the hands of God.

I am telling you however, many will come from the East and the West and will dine with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Shanghai-Suzhou China Business

Its winter time in northern China I was told. I didn’t know how cold is it but I plan to buy the necessary winter clothings when I get to Hong-kong. I looked up shanghai in Google earth and look around the place where I would be in a few days. I saw Peoples square in Shanghai China, I will visit this place. I did not bring extra pants only a few shirts. I left the house wearing only a smile and a shorts and a tribu sandal with my stroller. I only carried traveler’s cheque and no Philippine peso coz I already spent my every PhP last night as farewell blowout to my board mates. When I checked-in my things in Mactan Intrtnl Airport, I was told to pay terminal fee of 150 PhP. Money changers don’t change traveler’s cheque so I have a problem but when I check my belt wallet I was lucky to have found a 2 USD keepsake so I changed it and I’m still 50 PhP short. So I approached one PAL officer and told him my awkward predicament. One PAL officer was kind enough to give me 50 PhP, I did not beg-that’s not the way to do it, I only asked him for help whether they can waive 50PhP off from my terminal fee. Anyway it was the first of the string of my many unfortunate or unsuitable experiences in this trip. My second is still not far from home, when I arrived in NAIA, It came to me I have to pay another 550 PhP as terminal fee for international trips. I roam around looking for banks, all are closed its Sunday but I still was lucky to find one money changer and was able to get the currency of my heart. Aboard Cathay Pacific huge Boeing aircraft, Pls turn all your digital gadgets off. But during taxi to the runway, I got out my digicam and set my flash off so I wont be caught using it, I took a picture of one of the pretty stewardess, alas! The flash came out and they all turned to me, quickly and regrettably I resigned down sank a little lower to my seat feeling very stupid. Then I asked the stewardess to get me a vegetarian meal, with a Chinese charisma, is vegetarian noodles ok for you sir? That would be fine la. Then my seatmate got envy, I should have asked the same she said. After about 4 hours of flight I arrived in Hong-kong. I have 3 hours waiting time for my next flight to shanghai. So I look for winter clothes but time ticked so fast and the only thing I bought is only a timberland jacket. I thought it’s cheap to buy in HK than home. I was mistaken. Then the next time, I was beating the time to get to my flight. 2 min after I was seated, the gate closed. And the stewardess came to me and said in Chinese, so I told her English please. She spoke again and I said English please- again. Then she spoke again the third time, and seeing that I still did not get it, she just put the food pack in front of me and another one for my seatmate and moved on. My seatmate stared long at me confused, maybe trying to evaluate and predict where in mars I come from. I looked at the food; it was chicken and rice and my seatmate’s beef and noodles. That’s it, I finally figured it out. She was trying to ask me "chicken rice or beef noodles?" but I was not able to get it coz she still has Chinese accent. Luckily I did not get my digicam again to shoot her this time. You still don’t know half of the story. After 2 hours we arrived in Pudong airport in Shanghai. It’s very cold outside; water is most dense at this so called critical temperature. Below 4 C water expands and above 4 C water also expands. This is amazing property of water. If it has not this property, all life in bodies of water will be dead during winter. Water contracts as it approaches solidus temp but just before it freezes to solid at 0 C, it expands so it becomes less dense and floats, and it serves as the thermal insulator between the warmer water below and the ever decreasing temp outside. If ice doesn’t float, all water bodies will be frozen from bottom up and it’ll dead. It’s too cold outside sir. I was the only passenger wearing shorts and only having sandals with no socks; at least I have a jacket. I’m now the only passenger left inside, and there’s a coaster outside waiting for me to get down. Soon I felt the unwelcome coldest air touch my toes and I was like having no toes at all. I still feel lucky coz my partner in travel got no jacket. Fairchild already arranged a car for us to take us to Suzhou and we were lucky the Chinese driver got a good skill in non-verbal communication. This is worse than I imagined, I thought majority of Chinese can understand a little English. We traveled 2 hours to the industrialized province of Suzhou. We have a friend from Malaysia who can speak Mandarin and English so we depended on him for translation and guide around. I asked him to write me down important translations like send me to my hotel, send me to the shanghai train station and where is the CR. Mandarin is not the dialect in Suzhou so miscommunications sometimes also happen and the result is I got lost. I tried to talk to the driver in mandarin which my friend taught me. But he cannot understand coz I have different accent so next time id rather walk rather than talk in mandarin to taxi drivers. I still remember my way back to my hotel. There are condom vending machines on the street walls and sometimes pretty girls open the door when you pass by night clubs and tempt you to get inside handsome. I searched for SDA church somewhere and I found one and wrote down the address. So on the Saturday Sabbath morning I took a taxi to shanghai and called my friend who works in shanghai to meet me at the train station and ask him to guide me to the address. We followed the street map and walk for 3 hours just my estimate until we come across a big detour-sign ‘construction going on’. We cannot get to church since the roads are blocked and it’s already 1 pm so we went to people square and to xian-xang flea market and meet other old friends from Cebu who are now working in shanghai. Then Sunday came and its time to get back home. We took the 15 minute bullet train ride from our hotel to the airport instead of 1 hour by taxi. Shanghai magnetic levitation train can reach 331 kph as its top speed. This is very fast ride going home.

The man up there is coming back soon, and he wants us to meet Him up in the air with a speed more than a lightning, He will send us home to the mansions he prepared for us. Let’s always take our guide wherever we go so we won’t get lost. Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth, the book really is true to the name some people give to it. He is coming soon, investigate and get to know more of the details so one wont be surprised at the turn of events that leads us all the that final great destination.

The Coming Revolutions in Fundamental Physics

“In science, everyone stands on level ground”. That is the opening thought of the 2004 Nobel Prize Awardee in Physics during the “Bridges – Dialogues towards a culture of peace” hosted through the international peace foundation held in University of San Carlos-Talamban on January 11, 2008.
Speaking to a jam-packed audience of physics teachers, students, engineers, Prof Gross spoke about three topics during his lecture; Physics, Cosmology and Biology.
He first spoke about scientific research and experiments as the absolute authority in scientific issues, by observation and experiment of the workings of nature, we define true science. Political and religious figures are not the authority of science like what happened in the past. (reminds me of geocentric theory)
What follows is a brief History in physics from the time of Galileo who discovered the regularities of motion. And one needs a language extension to mathematics to be able to model the basic motion and symmetries that govern all physical phenomena because it is the native language that nature speaks to us. Isaac Newton discovered the Universal Law of Gravitation, James Maxwell came up with Electromagnetic Theory. Neils Bohr contributes the idea that an electron could in fact drop from a higher-energy orbit to a lower one, emitting a photon (light quantum) of discrete energy (that explains light emitting diodes). Bohr, Planck, Dirac, Einstein and others are known for Atomic theory and Quantum Mechanics. By investigating the atomic structure, one can explain the behavior and properties of elements that make up matter. Einstein formulated the General Theory of Relativity where space and time is dynamical and proposed to be a new theory of gravitation in place of Newtonian gravitation. Many physics equations have had developed through decades and scientists are making efforts to unify all laws into one simple but not simpler law.
As Einstein has said, not unjustly, that “in this materialistic age of ours the serious scientific workers are the only profoundly religious people.” Scientist may not only sit in the pew and believe how we get here, they verify the workings of nature and perform experiments. Cosmology hopes to answer the questions such as; where did we come from? How the universe began? Scientists are making experiments and observations to understand ourselves and around us by studying our tiniest part - the atom and extends to the vast part of our universe. Dr Gross studies deep into the atom even to the quarks and was awarded the nobel prize for physics for discovering regarding the strong force – the nuclear force that binds together quarks (the smallest bulding blocks of matter) and holds together the nucleus of the atom. The prizewinning work of Prof David Gross arose from physics experiments with particle accelerators conducted in the early 1970s to study quarks and the force that acts on them. Particle accelerator is a facility that produces miniature big bangs in the hope of understanding the Big bang theory – the most popular theory of how our universe began, where particles are smashed head on (collision) and produces effects that can lead us to ideas of what really happened “in the beginning…” So we have Particle accelerators or colliders to study big bang in the laboratory and we have Hubble telescope to study the outside world – the vast universe.
Throughout the lecture, Dr Gross brought up issues that should concern everyone, issues that should enter into every conciousness of man. From the questions of how the universe began to how the universe will end (or will not end?), He mentioned Darwin’s theory of evolution where based on the Darwin’s tree of life, most species are extinct and we’re the last few million years old specie. By vast interconnection of neurons in our brain our memory and emotions arrived (we don’t know how it arrived). Human specie (or kind) began to go and multiply, Prof Gross showed an intersting grpah of how the world is growing in terms of world population. Plotting the World populaiton versus the time from 1 AD to 2001, the curve is rising faster (more rapid) than exponential. That means, more people will consume food, energy, fossil fuel. Fossil fuel will run out, energy consumption will rise. Education is the hope to stabilize the world popultaion or else it presents a terrible threat to the health of our planet. Global warming is very real, it has been predicted that world temperature will rise by 3-8 degrees Celcius within the century, seemingly not a lot. But for just one degree increase in temperature for the next 10-20 years - 20-30% of species will become extinct, most coral reefs will be dead, world will experience drought, heat waves and increase in mortality. Two Celcius degree increase will have major effect on our ecosystem, millions of people will be affected by floods. Polar ice caps will melt and submerged 30% of man’s land for a three degree increasde in temperature, health and food will be a heavy burden. At four degree increase, more than 30% of species will be extinct, and bleaching of corals severe and the sea level will increase to 13-15 feet. And scientists are predicting not just 3-4 Celcius degree increase but 3-8 degree celsius.
Therefore more science is needed to solve all thses problems that confronts every man today. Nanotechnology and solar technology is a promising help. We need a new system, economic and political system that is not dependent on unlimited consumption and growth or else our natural resources will be depleted. We need a better system than now is. More science is needed in all countries, what we do in one country affects the whole world. Science is the most international activity which is not closed because nature has no boundaries. Collaboration and competition is encouraged. We need more scientist to do research and innovations everywhere, efforts that will leave a living legacy to our upcoming generations - them.
Prof Gross encourage lifelong questioning of things (like Socrates method) because it is the questions that drive science. The most important product of knowledge is (intelligent) ignorance. Smart questions arrive in the boundaries of ignorance. As it has been said, “judge a man not by his answers but by his questions”, Prof Gross left some questions for the audience to judge.
1. How did the universe begin? (what happened a fraction of second after the BIG BANG!!)
2. What is dark matter? Dark energy that pulls on something?
3. How to unify the forces of nature? Is string theory the answer. Different forces - just different vibration of the same string?
4. How did consciousness arise from collection of neurons?

Our questions are limited by the amount of our knowledge, we don’t know enough to ask more questions. So the more we know the more our ignorance and questions (so why expand knowledge?). But the rate of our knowledge expansion is far greater than the questions that will come up. Think about a sphere, the volume represents our knowledge and the surface area is our questions, the boundary of knowledge and ignorance.
For deterministic models in science, we can predict the future with great accuracy, i.e., planets in motion. Kinematic equations can predict its path and position to a great accuracy in the future time. Prof Gross likewise gave his predictions about the future of our world in centuries.
1. 50-100 years from now all his four questions will be answered. (more questions to ask then)
2. Our scientific friends, i.e., the psychology, sociology, and other social/political/economic sciences (infant sciences) will become real sciences. They will then have models for real sciences which will study human behavior based on the experiments on the brain and consciousness.
3. The world will have one government (100-1000 years) where it has sustainable economic and social arrangements.
4. People will have increased lifespan. Ten times than the present. Because of medical advances to stop aging process and cure for diseases.
5. Speciation: creation of new specie. We are beginning to learn how to modify genome. We can speed up evolution or mutation.
6. Spread of life into other galaxies.
7. We will then have more problems to solve, political and social issues maybe more difficult than technological/scientific questions.
We don’t know if these predictions will come true because of stochastic models or just plain impossible. But as what Dr Gross said, ask questions and learn to find answers, more questions to ask but definitely our knowledge will expand that inevitably scientific research will lead to greater control over nature and more new tools will unpredictably be discovered. Relying on the research efforts of other countries or people will not work.
Question and answer time followed after the lecture. All in all, It was an insightful 3-hour adventure from quarks to the outside world with the 2004 Nobel Prize winer in Physics - Dr David Jonathan Gross.

Conference with David Gates in Waterfront Mactan

David Gates is the author of the book Missionary Pilot. He is the President of GMI International Ministries. A Seventh-day Adventist Pastor, a Master Pilot, Nurse, Computer Scientist, Masters in Business Administration and more.

If you want to have a free copy of the Missionary Pilot. Give me your email add and i will send you a free softcopy. He emailed it to me so i will share it to you too for free willingly.

My friend Ricky Faigao invited me to attend a conference with David Gates in Waterfront Hotel. I didnt know what he will be talking about but i went anyway. I took a half day leave. Went to the conference room, found many workers from CPUC, pastors and officers of 3AMEDIA were there.15 all.after a minute David Gates arrived and started speaking about his experiences.

He was born with no nervous system, organ in different places, his appendix was in the left side and he had no peristalsis to take food down to his stomach and he was to die in 24 hours. The doctor told his father,a pastor, to prepare a sermon for the funeral of his first born son. but the next day came and he was still alive, whe the doctors examined him, the peristalsis was there, the major organs were now in correct positions, the intestined now OK, the appendix was in the right side. everything perfect and in order and well functioning. The Doctor said, I dont believe in God but if there is a God, this is the work of Him. Only God can save a baby like this.

God intervened, God has a special purpose for him.

He lived with his parents in Bolivia jungle because his parents were missionaries. He had a friend who was 11 years old and he was eight. The play together, had fun together and when another boy wants to be her friend too,. He said to the boy out of jealousy, How can you be her friend when i am already her friend? you know a child talk. so he went to the nearest store, bought a perfume and gave it to the firl. Will you marry me? The girl replied YES. but not now, only when we grow older. It is important to move fast. grab every opportunity. waste no time. that compelled him to buy a perfume and propose to the girl at 8 years old, afraid the other boy will steal her friend.

He continued his many experiences as a pilot. He was hijacked. went to jail innocent with 15 criminal charges.sentenced to serve 14 years in jail but God intervened making the 14 years to 10 days. Trust God anyway.

The world is in trouble. The world will end very soon. I will update this blog next time. Im hungry now. see you soon. check this out later for more stories. God bless. I will be praying for you.

3rd Philippine-wide Youth Congress in MVC

I took a 1 week leave to go to MVC and attend the 3rd Philippines-wide Youth Congress. Went first to Iligan my hometown during the weekend to see my fellow small group leaders, Masterguides and MAS AMiCUS peeps and Physics Family in MSU-IIT. Never met a fellow small group leader, met only a few MGs, saw new faces in MAS, very few young people in the church i met. It was because the MAS AMiCUS held an NMC-wide Convention during that week in Bukidnon. Shared laughs with my fellow P6 in MSU-IIT, look around the city once more and im ready to go to MVC the next day. Hailed a taxi to take us to the Bus station. the driver said hes from CDO and hes going backdrive. So rather than 120 each in the bus we opted to 450 taxi to CDO for the 4 of us.my parents and my sister. Our eldest sis didnt go with us. midway to CDO, we talked about going to MVC and the driver asked if we were SDA and he admitted he was also. but when he got married to a non-SDA he turned his back and started smoking and drinking. we encouraged him to come back to the church and he promised he will bring his family to the church soon. He then proposed that he sends us to MVC for only 1,500 instead of 2000. I thought of the hassles on bus transfers and the dust in the trip to MVC roads so we agreed. It only took us 3.5 hours from Iligan to MVC aboard Toyota Altis. Very nice trip but mom threw up during the trip. My friends told me they were bathed with dust during their trip aboard the public jeeps going up to MVC. We pitched our tents in the front yard of my cousin’s house in the korean village. We put our things in the tents and slept in the house of Julius Soriano, husband of my cousin. I met for the first time my very cute niece named Ading, its inday in Ilokano.jakamawatan. Then the house next door stayed Pastor Locop and Capitol Kids and the Rosario hgts delegates. I was assigned to furnished the CPUC youth report on Wed night. So vivitz and I with Eden worked all afternoon until midnight and morning til afternoon the next day to finished it in time. Me using the Sony Vegas 8 and vivitz using the Adobe Photoshop for the templates. It was a good tandem of our skills. on the Morning Worship of Wednesday, i rendered guitar solo, "Nothing is impossible" and "He". Dad also gave a guitar solo during the dawn worship at 4:30 am and during the morning devotional at 7am. after that we went back to finishing the report for the evening and as a break ate grace and I went around looking for acquaintances and sell them Dad’s 3rd guitar solo album entitled: "’Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus" with 12 songs. we were able to sell about 35 copies of the cds. The money weve collected was used for our meals. There were sprung up many food courts in front of the church. I met many of my good old friends there. I was called by Bro John Kalaw informing me that i was assigned as Archiving records chairman. so we met and talked about keeping the roceords of the sports events and so on. Sometimes i can borrow the motorbikes for the staff to do my duty, and i borrow motorbike from my cousin to sell our guitar CDs and i borrow motorbike from Pastor locop once. I met the Assoc World Youth Dir Elder Missah and he gave me his business card. i told him a already submitted 2 songs and he responded that he saw my name as author. The World Youth Director Elder Muganda and World Pathfinder Director Elder Tejel were there in the ante-room with us and they said to each other that the translator can make or break their presentations because their sermons were translated to cebuano. The wed evening came when the CPUC will sponsor the program. We ate supper at midnight that night with pastor locop, dalis, joniruth and eden. Thu morning, it was my first time to attend a lecture, i was texted by adilyn that there is a lecture about pathfindering in the diamond hall so i went there and found pastor Kaleb as the lecturer, asked out some questions and to the church to find lectures about Pathfindering by Pastor Tejel and youth by Pastor Muganda. Went to eat Durian Ice cream in ernie’s place. Ellen left her purse with me and inside were her celphone and wallet on thu evening and she got it back on saturday afternoon. On Fri night, we got ading and kukort to come with us. and then saturday morning, ading went with us again but she cried so loud that i can be suspected as kidnapper, she was yelling the name of her daddy so i called him and we went home because there was no more space in the church. I was not able to sit inside the church ever since the start. We went home and watch the service via the hope channel. I met Arnold on the way back to church and his car was Ford Ranger. we went in the ante room and he came out to meet his brother. Then saturday afternoon we had Masterguide Investiture, I left my formal shoes in Iligan so i went to kerwin to borrow but his shoes were very big for me so i was lucky Dodong has one fit for me.so we went to meet other MGs from Luzon and Mindanao. Only 2 of us were uniformed as MG from the central philippines and both of us came from mindanao. We stood inside the church in attention for maybe an hour or more because my legs were hurt and i couldnt walk well after standing for so long. After the investiture, Picture taking was totally a disorder. I stood there on the stage, sometimes some youth asked to be pictured with me whiach i always granted then i got to met a fine lady from laguna in luzon and i asked her if she has an email, well thats a technique guys to get her number. ok please write you email here and pls include also your number.thats the secret line. just include you number. and well she didnt so i was left with only her email address and now we are already friendster. I want to have a picture with the two world directors so i waited until they will walk out from the stage and i followed them to the front of the church where my friend Pastor Jobbie was with them and i caught them cornered in one corner so i actually have a shot with them. Then Jennifer came to our tent with her sister. After a chat i sent her to her tent and talked for a while. then i went back to our tent passed by the social gathering under the pines by Pastor Patalinghug then slept almost midnight. Sunday morning came and we packed our things and get on the Rural Transit Bus bound for CDO boarded by Cebu delegates and Kuyogates. The bus went to Valencia Sanitarium to get Pastor Francisco being admitted there for a high blood pressure. then we stopped over small vendors of brooms labeled Baguio City but made in valencia. then the bus went to SPUC and break for soya milk drinks then proceeded to NMC at 12 lunchtime. we then went to Gaisano for lunch and then sent my parents to the jeep going to bulua terminal. then we went to play table tennis for 1.5 hours with terso and ate grace. then met ladel and we went back to NMC. played basketball with the youth from CLC and played badminton and asked for galloons of water from a nice neighbor there. took a 2 minute bath then went to the pier at 8pm. our boat will still be leaving at 11 pm we were told. Bad Trans Asia. we were two groups in the sun/moon deck playing games with pastor eyas. the boat left the pier at 12 midnight. we arrived in cebu at 1pm the next day. We were given free meal as breakfast. rice and sardines. too bad. the docking maneuver of the boat was bad. it tried 3 times before succeeding in the docking procedure which left many very angry with the captain. and it delayed our getting down for 1 hour more. anyway, we arrived safely in cebu.too late to go to work so i called in and informed i will report the next day. we bid goodbye to each other and went home carrying the memories from the youth congress which will remain immortalized in our conciousness.

International Mechanical Congress and Exposition- ASME

I went to Seattle City Washington USA Sd537970 to attend a Congress for Mechanical Engineers worldwide and I presented a Technical Paper entitled "Package Tilt Prediction Using Surface Evolver". It was a very nice trip although i was alone in going there.

I went first to LA California to meet some friends and stayed in the house with Pastor Sd530329Eddie Frasco, Mommy Luz Noval-Frasco, Jenievev and Edward Berdin - our sponsor in Canjulao Church. Then I went to Seattle to attend the ASME Congress.

My friend Sd538183 Cleofe Tominio in Wa visited me there and toured me around sleepless nights in Seattle.

Then after the Congress, My friends Marcus Jabian and Glorivic Dairo Sd538751paid my airfare so i can go to Chicago Illinois

and I was able to participate in their Northbrook Pathfinder Club Day. Sd538714_2 My friend from Minnesota Janice Haim came over to see me and together with my foster family -

Lots of experiences to share and i only have limited time to write. more stories by next blog. Pls see my reflection My Reflections on the ASME IMECE 2007 Keynote Address: a

The Keynote speaker of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) – International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE) received a standing ovation from his engineering fellows after his speech on the opening ceremony of the ASME-IMECE 2007 in Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle City, Washington on November 11-15, 2007. The keynote speaker was Bernard Amadei, a professor of civil engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He shared his practical insights as an engineer and global humanitarian compassion and called on engineers to apply their skills and resources to meet the needs of people in the world’s developing and underdeveloped countries. He believes that the large gathering of engineers and scientists before him, who conducts technical researches, presents technical papers every year and designs technology for the world, can also conduct projects and gives solutions to the 20 percent of the world’s population that lacks clean water and 40 percent without adequate sanitation. He exhorted the technical community to also work for the poorest people and not only for the few who are rich. Technological advances like thinner cell phones, smaller laptops, etc may not be greatly felt by many people in underdeveloped or developing countries. It is mostly enjoyed by the few elites. He quoted J.F. Kennedy, "If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich". He said that engineers and scientists are in a position to make a difference as creative problem solvers and facilitators of sustainable development to people who lacks basic quality of life. He asks every one of us to engage in making sustainable changes that can improve profoundly the lives and fortunes of some of the world’s poorest people who maybe found in your own community. Opportunities abound in developing countries for “small-scale technology” – systems that are practical and efficient, but simple enough to be operated and maintained by local villagers and townsfolk, like a water filtration system designed at the University of Colorado for use in Africa. The key factor driving sustainable engineering he said is innovation. Designing for the developing world is different than designing for the commercial industrialized marketplace, and could require greater innovation, entrepreneurship, and creative ability. Toward that end, Amadei seeks to promote service learning and systems thinking in the curricula at colleges and universities. We should not only try to influence the curricula of the academe to cater the industry needs but also integrate service oriented courses in engineering schools so students can have the chance to relate engineering to the real problems of their communities. He also wants to work closely with technical societies and orga nizations like ASME, saying that sustainable engineering is the type of challenge requiring coordinated efforts around the globe. His talented teams of academics, professionals and students put to rest the tired notion that engineering and environmental protection don’t go together by demonstrating how creative thinking and high standards can benefit both people and the planet.” His speech was a wake up call for engineers, innovators and designers who are working for the few who are rich, to address also the problems of the many poor people in any way possible.
